One can fill this page and several
on who Los Pistoleros are and where they have been in their musical
career. But we won't do that here, thats in the biog. Instead
here are a few facts that demonstrate their pedigree. BJ
Cole is THE pedal steel guitarist
this side of the Atlantic. He recently played 10 nights at the
Royal Albert Hall with Sting. Toured with The Verve and has been
working with Richard Ashcroft and played on the last Pet Shop
Boys album and appeared with them on TOTP.
He even made a 'drum 'n' bass' album with Luke Vibert which has
sold over 40,000. Bobby
Valentino the 'Clark Gable'
look alike is the violin player and vocalist. He has appeared
on TOTP 17
times with 7 different artistes. Including "Young At Heart" with
The Bluebells. He has appeared on songs with Tom Petty,Bob Dylan,
Cliff Richard, The Style Council, and Rolf Harris. Recently he
even appeared with B*Witched on TOTP.
With his live background being with bands such as "The Fabulous
Poodles" "Hank Wangford Band" and The Electric Bluebirds you
would be forgiven for thinking Los Pistoleros were somewhat 'tongue
in cheek' with songs delivered with a certain irony. Martin
Belmont is 6ft 5" and his
guitar sound is to match. He kicked off in pub rock band "Ducks
Deluxe" and later formed Graham Parker and The Rumour with the
aforementioned. He was also a member of "Nick Lowes Cowboy Outfit" and
has worked with Johnny Cash,Carlene Carter,Elvis Costello and
was also in the Hank Wangford band. Kevin
Foster on bass was also with
Hank and Doll by Doll. Bobby
Irwin who plays drums on
the album worked in and around San Antonio,Texas for 8 years
and has also worked with Nick Lowe and Carlene Carter. Their
live drummer is Jim
Russell who has worked recently
with Peter Green,Paul Young and Desree.

ORIGIN OF THE
NAME: LOS
PISTOLEROS
As well as being Mexican/Spanish
for the gunmen/bandits, its what the Latin world called the
Sex Pistols(we called them the pistols) Also, the word pistolero
is used in much of continental Europe to describe a gigolo.
