Show of Hands started the year
in Canada, as one of the featured artists for Canadian Music
Week. They then toured from Toronto to Calgary, on the edge of
the Rockies, to perform for two nights at one of the largest
folk clubs in the world.
Back in the UK, Show of Hands
then embarked on a special theatre tour in April and May, bringing
a big new show to the fans, and preparing the ground or the
new self-titled album now available on Track! This tour was
in two sections, punctuated by a week in the Netherlands for
festivals and special shows in France.
Throughout the Summer, Show of
Hands are performing at many of the smaller festivals in the
UK, deliberately making their music accessible to many that
have missed them over the last two years, and reintroducing
themselves to the folk and acoustic world that has supported
them so strongly. In mid July they will be once again staging
their hugely popular outdoor event in Abbotsbury. In early August
they are featured as prime support at Cropredy Festival, Fairport
Convention's big event. Also included in the Summer programme
will be visits to German and Belgian festivals.
October and November are set aside
for an Australian Tour, to confirm the success of the previous
visit, and to spread the word to a rapidly growing army of Show
of Hands fans in the 'Lucky Country'.
Early in 2001, the 'in the round'
acoustic tour is planned. The last two years have established
this as a Show of Hands favourite, and this time its scope will
be further expanded to demonstrate new ideas and methods developed
over the year and as a final warm up to...
On 7th April 2001 Show of Hands
will be performing at London's Royal Albert Hall! |
