"Just to say the Lewes show last Friday was ........ a great one ............. the line up is terrific - Andy's percussive work so sharp & original still - yr guitarist [lead] is stunning - young Simon T. & bass / drums as well - great slow tempo - which is the acid test of music - with all the dynamics & energy boiling inside & pushing out - With three on vocals the potential is all there - If any small matter I'd say that ' Something In The Air ' didn't pull out it's "majesty" until the celebrated break & crescendo into the last verse - earlier electric guitar seemed to be putting minor's into the runs - which cooled the wave on wave ' Elgar' effect -- & there is , with three on vocals a call for choral harmonies [ Hollies/Beachboys/Crosby-Stills etc] - as powerful as a string/horn section .... What was also great was the band 'cooking' together perfectly - you can see they're happy & it washes through the audience like warm waves - I know when it's real from being on stage myself [Temperance Seven ] Thank you again for this really FRESH presentation of our dear friend Speedys' 40 years old - [ Oh! My! God!!! ] works - Best - john edwards ...

& so good to see The Mighty Thunderclap in top form - looking for sure as one of Edward VII 's direct descendants. Didn't mention the mix & sound so I will as it is VERY good - every element clear but fusing - & strong levels - but well balanced - so the MUSIC dominates, not bomb[l]ast. 12 rehearsal's 6 weeks? they mean business. Best wishes & to the Band - John/Astrid |
