TRACK RECORD RECORDS - FIRST PRESS RELEASE

The success story of TRACK RECORD RECORDS began only three days after its first ever disc was issued. On Monday March 20th, 1967, "PURPLE HAZE" by The JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE entered the national charts.

The WHO and the JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE are the first artists to be signed by TRACK. The label does not intend to sign artists indiscriminately. "Our policy is to sign people who we consider to be unstoppable. Only artistes of the highest quality and Top Ten potential " stated KIT LAMBERT, chairman of TRACK.

The other directors are CHRIS STAMP and PETE KAMERON.

KIT LAMBERT and CHRIS STAMP are also co-managers of The WHO and TRACK will release The WHOS next single in April. A promising series of instrumental EPs are now being recorded by The WHO. The first will be available in May or June.

Another important forthcoming TRACK release is the debut LP by The JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE. Titled "Are You Experienced", the album is eagerly awaited by Jimi's fans and advance orders are already high.

"We feel that, commercially speaking this is going to be one of the highest selling LPs of its kind this year" said CHRIS STAMP.

TRACK will be seeking promising new writers for its artistes and its associated publishing company.

New recording talents will be sought for release on the Continental market only,in addition to artistes whose records will be issued on a world-wide basis.

In association with TRACK, each member of The WHO will specialise in discovering, selecting and recording various forms of music.

Lead singer ROGER DALTREY heads the Soul and R & B section: KEITH MOON leads the Surf and Good Time Music section: lead guitarist PETE TOWNSHEND fronts the Jazz and New Sounds department, and bass guitarist JOHN ENTWISTLE will concentrate on orchestral material.

KIT LAMBERT is personally responsible for the Classical department of TRACK.

As a special service to retailers, TRACK is organising a 24-hour day, seven day week information bureau.Retailers with any problems or inquiries regarding TRACK products will be able to telephone at any time of day or night and have their queries dealt with at once.

This revolutionary new service will be available, initially, to retailers in the London area when it begins operations shortly. Later, it will be available to retailers in Birmingham and Manchester areas also.

TRACK RECORD RECORDS is the first independent label to begin with two Top Ten names. The JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE have already scored the first chart entry. The WHO's forthcoming single will be the second.
